Obituary of Brian Richard Giggey

It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Richard Giggey announce his passing, surrounded by love on September 21, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a brave battle with cancer.

Born in Saint John on April 19, 1945, Brian was the son of the late Florence and Harry Giggey. For 60 years, he was the devoted husband and best friend of Marilyn (Porter) Giggey, the love of his life. Marilyn cared for him with endless love, keeping him at home until the very end, just as he wanted.

Brian’s greatest joy was his family. He was a proud dad to Shelley Fulton, Jeffrey Giggey, favourite daughter-in-law, Sue Giggey as well as Arthur Kincade, who was like a son to him. He adored his grandchildren—Kory Fulton, Luke Fulton, Josh (Brittany) Fulton, Jessica (Zach) Beaulieu, and Justin (Mya) Giggey—and was so proud to be a great-grandpa to Nate Beaulieu.   He was also excitedly awaiting the arrival of two more great-grandsons.

He is also survived by his sister Nancy Ross, brother-in-law Harold Shanks, Brother-in-laws Billy (Nancy) Porter and Brian (Valerie) Porter, Stephen (Tony) Porter, sister-in-laws Debbie (Barry) Reid and Pam Phillips and several nieces and nephews. Brian was predeceased by his sister Norma Shanks, brother Paul Giggey, brother-in-law John Ross and his two loyal dogs, Bailey and Brandy, who were always by his side.

Brian had a deep love for animals and nature. He took countless pictures of the deer that visited his yard, and was especially fond of his daily visitors, Gertrude and Heathcliff the ducks.

Family was always at the center of Brian’s life, and he could never do enough for those he loved. He found happiness in fishing, golfing, and time spent at the camp, but more than anything, he found joy in being surrounded by family and friends.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Christian Mackin for his extraordinary care, as well as the Extramural team and the Palliative Care Unit at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their kindness and compassion during Brian’s journey.

Brian left this world at peace, knowing his family would be okay, and that he would be reunited with his beloved Marilyn—his “Mare.” He often said how lucky he was to have her as his wife.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB. At Brian’s request, there will be no funeral service. A visitation/reception will be held at Castle Funeral Home on Sunday, September 28th from 1:00 p.m.– 4:00 p.m. for all who wish to gather and share memories. Donations in Brian’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.ca.
