Obituary of Daniel Joseph Louis Arseneau
It is with great sadness that the family of Daniel Joseph Louis Arseneau announces his passing at home, on Monday, September 29th, 2025. Daniel was born on March 30, 1962 in Saint John, NB to Gloris and Irene (Bourque) Arseneau.
Daniel will be dearly missed by his mother Irene, partner of 22 years, Marilyn Wood, sisters; Rosa Kelly (Sean) and Bernice Lanigan (Andrew), nephews; Matthew Comeau (Nicole) and Dylan Kelly (Jess), niece Julia Bourgeios (Konnor), 3 great nieces and close friends; Brian, Victor and Kevin.
Daniel was predeceased by his father Gloris and brother Andrew Arseneau.
Daniel began his career with the military before he moved back to Saint John and began work with CFM, Galbraith Construction and eventually Corps Commissionaires (Saint John Harbour Bridge) and Port Authority where he retired from in May 2025.
Daniel was sociable, kind, hilarious and one of a kind. He was always willing to lend a hand to his friends and family. He loved reading and telling tales to his friends and family that often left them in stitches of laughter. His passions included playing the harmonica, guitar, bowling, chopping wood, playing pool with his friends and cribbage with his mom (he taught her all his tricks). Family was very important to Daniel, and he remained close with the extended family of the Arseneau’s and Bourque’s over the years.
Daniel treasured early mornings; always saying it was the best part of the day, which he would often spend drinking coffee, going for a country drive, or having breakfast with his friends. He loved being in the woods, and in his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and mastered the art of rabbit snaring. He was also a former member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025 from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, October 3, 2025 at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Daniel’s memory can be made to the Westside Foodbank, Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
