Obituary of Pauline Fannie Smith
Pauline Fannie (Middleton) Smith wife of the late Lewis Gordon Smith passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Kingsway Care Home. Pauline was born on August 1, 1925 in Grant (Hatfield Point), NB and was the daughter of the late Hattie Edna (Scribner) and Joseph Winfred Middleton. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 69 for many years, receiving a Certificate of Merit for her volunteer work on the Visiting Committee where she enjoyed visiting members in hospital and at the Veterans Hospital. Pauline also enjoyed quilting, playing darts, and loved to go dancing with the girls. She was a wonderful cook; making some of the best homemade bread, cookies and donuts around. She first gained her skills at the early age of 14 while going to work with her mother cooking for a local Lumber Camp. She continued honing her skills making treats or cooking delicious meals for friends, family or anyone stopping by. In later years, she worked as a maid for a prominent Saint John business man and his family in Rothesay. She will be sadly missed by her five children; Joseph (Elizabeth) Smith of Saint John, Paulette (William) Melanson of Musquash, Thomas (Shirley) Smith of Saint John, Gale (Jerry) Collins and Tammy (David) Oliver both of Quispamsis, eight grandchildren; Barclay Melanson (Jennifer), Melanie Lyons (Patrick), Erin (Nathan) Smith, Scott (Lindsay) Smith, Danial (Monique) Smith, and Melissa Smith, Katie (Jesse) Oliver and Holly Oliver; ten great-grandchildren; Calista, Kiefer, and Brock Lyons, Keaton Melanson, Grayson and Hudson Pipes, Nova and Bowen Pelletier, Charlie Foster, Brittan Gallie, and several nieces and nephews. Pauline is predeceased by her parents, husband Lewis, granddaughter Shelby Lynn Gallie, sister Emily Robertson, and brothers; Russell, George and Kenneth Middleton. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 12, 2021 from 5:00 PM - 8:00PM.
