Obituary of Mary Pynisky

Mary Pynisky (MacDonald) of Grand Bay, NB passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, May 28th, 2017 at Bobby’s Hospice. She was born in Glace Bay, NS to the late Roderick Joseph and Sarah Ann (MacNeil) MacDonald. Mary had a kind and gentle spirit with just the right amount of spunk. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mary loved unconditionally and had a deep faith in God. At the age of 17, two years after the loss of her mother, Mary moved to Montreal to work at the Royal Victoria Hospital. She moved to Toronto, met her husband Nicky of Sydney, NS and they raised their two daughters. Mary worked at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital as a Registered Nurse’s Assistant for 25 years. In 1991, Mary and Nicky retired to New Brunswick to be closer to their grandchildren. Mary is survived by her loving family; her daughters: Linda Pauline Davis and Yvonne “Bonny” Munro (Bob) of Grand Bay, NB; grandchildren: Jaclyn Munro (Robinson Russell) of Grand Manan, NB, Michael Munro of Kingston, ON and Kristin Munro (Sean Doucet) of Saint John, NB; great-granddaughter: Oaklee Capri Munro Russell of Grand Manan, NB; dear cousins Sally Francis (Bill) of Colborne, ON, Carmie French of Glace Bay, NS and her special four-legged friend Oscar, who was always by her side. Mary was predeceased by her parents, brother Tony MacDonald and husband Michael “Nicky” Pynisky. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff of both the GEM unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Bobby’s Hospice for their support and compassionate care. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster ave Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). A funeral mass will be held at St. Matthew’s Parish on Saturday, June 3rd at 1pm with reception to follow. Internment will take place at St. Augustine’s Cemetery following the service. The family asks that any remembrances or donations be made to Bobby’s Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
