Obituary of François Regis Doucet
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of François Regis Doucet, age 88, on December 13, 2017. Regis died peacefully, in company of his beloved wife Moonyeen, on the eve of their 63rd wedding anniversary, along with his children, sisters, extended family and life-long friends. A passionate Acadian outdoorsman; Regis was happiest while pursuing his many adventures: fishing, hunting, snowshoeing, cycling and skiing. Always the life of the party, Regis will be remembered by the many people whose lives he touched with his quick wit and genuine charm—particularly at the family cottage—which he built as the gathering spot for generations of extended family members. The shared memories of Regis at this favourite place will endure for us all. Born in Inkerman, New Brunswick, Regis was predeceased by his parents, Joseph Doucet and Celia Nardini and three children Maurice, Denise and Richard—whose tragic losses he survived with dignity and strength. He is survived by his wife Moonyeen, six children—Carmen Gibbons (Dana Gibbons), Regis Doucet Jr (Gisèle Doucet), Celia Doucet-Clark (Douglas Clark), Kathleen Doucet-Anderson (Daryl Anderson), Karen Doucet-Bordun (Ed Bordun), Bernard Doucet—and his much adored granddaughters Marley Gibbons, Sophie Halassy and Leah and Sarah Anderson. He is also survived by his sisters Betty (Vincent Ferguson), Angela Duggan and Theresa Deering. He will also be missed by extended family members—Yvon and Bella Arsenault, in-laws, nieces and nephews—and countless others lucky enough to have known him. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 19th from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 6:00PM- 8:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 20th at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady of Assumption Church. Interment will take place at a later date. A graduate of Sacred Heart University, and as a father, Regis was a strong proponent of post-secondary education. In lieu of flowers, his children request a donation to a scholarship or bursary of your choice in his memory. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.com
