Obituary of Patrick Michael Valardo
It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the passing of Patrick Michael Valardo following a tragic accident on Saturday, February 1, 2020. He was first a son to the late Matthew and Florence Jean (Cooper) Valardo, then a brother, brother in law, uncle and loving friend. In his too brief 58 years of life Pat touched many lives and he will be deeply missed by those fortunate enough to have known him. Born in Saint John on the 18th of July, 1961. Pat was a graduate of St. Josephs Elementary, Aberdeen Junior High, St. Malachy’s High and the University of New Brunswick. He formed friendships that bore the test of time and distance. He learned the principles of ethical business practices from his late father Matt and his late Uncle Don. His father Matt and Uncle Don opened Buccaneers Pub and several accompanying businesses on the Westside; later taken over by Pat and his best friend and younger brother Brian, where they worked side by side for many years. His father and mother instilled in him the importance of strong family values. Pat loved to travel and had an abiding passion for the Montreal Canadiens. Pat will be greatly missed by his brother Brian (Michelle), nieces; Vienna and Evangelia, his girlfriend Clare Vautour of Moncton, aunts; Dawn and Frances, Uncle Ron, several cousins and many good friends. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 5th, 2020 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Thursday, February 6th, 2020 at 12:00 Noon. A Reception will follow Mass at the Assumption Centre, with interment afterwards at St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Pat’s memory can be made to Diabetes Canada or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
