Obituary of Mary Olive May
The death of Mary (O’Leary) Olive May occurred at her residence on Thursday November 23, 2017. Born in Minto, N.B., she was a daughter of the late John George and Helen Cecile (McGinley) O’Leary, and widow of the late Richard Leo May (2012) . Mary was a graduate of Mount Carmel Academy, she started her working career with the Bank of Nova Scotia before moving to Revenue Canada where she worked for many years until her retirement. She was a long time member of St. Rose Church, and a very active member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association for over 25 years. Mary is survived by her three brothers, Eugene O’Leary (Frances), of N.S., John O’Leary (Estelle), of N.S., and Kenneth (Elaine) O’Leary, of Cambridge Narrows, N.B., two sisters, Helen Clark (Ron), of Quispamsis,N.B., and Joan Mazerolle, of Fredericton, N.B., Sister-in-law, Pam O’Leary. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She shared a special bond with nieces Barbara, Linda, Irene, and Jeannie, grand niece Pamela, and great grand nephew Chase. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband Richard, brothers, Allen J. O’Leary, and Donald V. O’Leary and several brothers-in-law and sister-in-laws. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B.(634-1701). Visitation will be held on Sunday evening November 26, 2017 from 6 to 8pm, and Monday November 27, 2017 from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima Church at 11:00am. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A reception will be held at Castle “Fallsview” reception Center following the burial. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice, the I.W.K. Childrens Hospital or the charity of the donors choice.
