So very sorry to hear of Ivan's passing. Wish we weren't so far away. I have many, many great memories of Ivan throughout my life at home and while visiting on leave from the Air Force. An outstanding brother-in-law and he'll be greatly missed. RIP old chum.

I was injured in 2001 and Ivan visited me in the hospital every 2nd day during my stay. I will never forget his kindness. He will be missed. Roy Byers Saint John Fire Dept.

My condolences to the family of Ivan O’Connor. I had the pleasure of working with Ivan for many years. He would spend hours with you on the apparatus floor teaching you the skills needed to operate a pumper and ladder truck along with many stories relating to his career and life. It was a honour to work with such a passionate and caring officer. Rest In Peace brother.

I met Ivan several years ago , he was a customer at my place of employment. He was a lovely and insightful man, who told a great story ! He quickly became my favourite customer ! I grew up in Fundy Heights and learned Ivan and Ester were good friends with my late Aunt & Uncle. Ivan's love for Ester and his family was very obvious as he spoke proudly of his loved ones . my condolences to you all. Rest Easy Ivan

One of the most pleasant, fun individuals I ever worked with. A gifted story-teller, Ivan could take a simple situation, add some sound effects and turn it into a hilarious story. He was my officer when I drove Ladder 5. I valued his friendship and admired his character. Rest easy my friend
