Obituary of Gloria “Phyllis” Brown
We share with you the peaceful passing of our Mother, Gloria “Phyllis” (Hamilton) Brown on Saturday, November 28, 2020. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to all. Phyllis was born on April 3, 1931 to the late Leroy E. and Laura S. (Connolly) Hamilton. Phyllis was a homemaker for many years until the children graduated and she took a position at the K-Mart cafeteria, and worked there for 17.5 years. She and her husband Doug enjoyed travelling, often going to Vancouver to visit relatives and friends. Phyllis was an avid bowler, member of Fundamental Baptist Church and TOPS. She enjoyed many seasons with her family at the Mic Mac Trailer Park in the Cambridge Narrows; she loved swimming and having campfires. Although our mother small in stature had an enormous heart, she had a great love for children. Our mother’s door was always open to share a cup of tea and a sweet. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Charlene Elaine Belyea (Rodney), son Mark Douglas Brown (Honey), six grandchildren; Russel Rowe (Jamie) Sarah Sullivan (Matthew), Jonathan Rowe, Ryan Brown, Brandon Brown (Heidi) and Kara Brown, numerous great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, loving husband Douglas Ernest Brown, her three sisters and six brothers. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. Visitation take place on Thursday, December 3, 2020 from 11:00 AM -12:30 PM at Castle Funeral Home. Due to the current health crisis, a Private Invitation Only Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at the Fundamental Baptist Church. The family wishes to invite those who cannot attend to watch Phyllis’s service via live stream through Fundamental Baptist Church. Interment will take place at a later date in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Phyllis’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Windcrest Bible Camp or the charity of the donor’s choice.
