Obituary of Frederick Byers
It is with great sadness the family of Frederick “Ted” Byers announce his passing on Friday, May 19, 2017 which occurred at SJRH following a brief illness. He was born on October 21, 1930 in Lorneville to the late Hazen and Ruth (Humphrey) Byers. Ted spent his working career with C.P Rail, the port and also the city of Saint John. He enjoyed listening to music and loved spending time outdoors, whether it was working in the yard, gardening or just tinkering with vehicles. He had a love for all animals, especially when it came to caring for his cats. He is survived by his children; Ruth (Dave McSheffrey), Peter (Joanne Richard), Lori (Blake Palmer), his granddaughters; Emma and Sarah Palmer and Madison Tremain – Byers. He is also survived by his sisters; Evelyn, Gail and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 46 years, Alice (Seely) Byers, his brothers; John, Frank and sister, Elsie (Carter). Ted was a very special father, grandfather, brother and uncle, who will be missed dearly by all. Arrangements are under the care of Castle funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 2:00PM- 4:00PM and 6:00PM- 8:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 10:00AM in the Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Interment will take place at Greenwood Cemetery following the funeral service. Donations in Ted’s memory can be made to CARMA: Cat Rescue Maritimes, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the donor’s choice. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com.
