Obituary of Doris Helen Duguay
It is with great sadness yet great joy for a life well lived (99 years and 4 months), the family of Doris Helen Duguay announce her passing at Bobby’s Hospice, Oct. 27th, 2019. Born June 28th, 1920 in Dorchester, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Fabien and Marie (Bourque) LeBlanc. Doris was a caring and compassionate; mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved animals (especially Lucky the cat) and was known to feed the occasional stray. No one was turned away. She was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. She enlisted herself as the driver for her group of friends who loved to play bingo. She was a wonderful cook and a hard worker outside the home as well. She loved her sports teams, the Montreal Canadians and Toronto Blue Jays. Doris spent many evenings playing cards with family (Auction 45, Kitty Whist, Oh Hell, Big Bertha), and was always up for a good game of cribbage. She was also known to try her hand at a Casino (Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Casino NB.) Doris also enjoyed many wine drinking days (preferably red.) Doris leaves behind her loving family, sons; Don Duguay, John Duguay, Abbey (Pam) Duguay, daughter; Peggy Duguay, brothers; Alfred (Fred) LeBlanc, Francis (Bernadette) LeBlanc, grand-children; Marc (Amy) Duguay, Keri Lynn (Peter) Mitchell, Laura (Bill) Woodhouse, great grand-children; Camden and Mason Duguay, Zachary, Aaron and Emmett Mitchell, Elliott, Brayden and Oliver Woodhouse, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Doris is pre-deceased by her husband of 55 years, Abbey Joseph Duguay, brothers; Leo LeBlanc, Camille LeBlanc and sister; Florence Belliveau, infants; John Richard, twins Dorice and Edmee, Peter Michael, Gerarda, Paul Gerard, daughter-in-law; Thérèse Duguay, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John, NB E2M2L3 506-634-1701. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 31st from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Friday, Nov. 1st, 2019 at 12 noon. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery after the service, with a reception to follow at the Assumption Centre.
