Obituary of Andrew William Keating
It is with broken hearts the family of Andrew William Keating wish to announce his passing on Tuesday December 1, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Fairville on March 30, 1929, Andrew was a son of the late Frank L. and Edna (Byers) Keating, and the husband of Marguerite ( Howland ) Keating. Andrew was a train conductor for Canadian Pacific Railway, he loved his job and retired after 37 years with the railway. Andrew had the honour of being asked to bring in the old steam train from McAdam Station for the 100 year celebration for CP Rail, and to be on the last Via Rail run into Saint John Station. Andrew was a member and trustee at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Andrew and Marguerite lived all of their married live in South Bay, they spent their retired winters in Florida at the Yankee Traveller, and their summers enjoying the Belleisle Bay with beloved family. Andrew was everyone’s favorite and we will always remember that special smile, that caring heart, and warm embrace. Andrew is survived by his beloved wife Marguerite ( Howland ) Keating, three brothers, Jack (Thelma) Keating, Allen Keating, and Ronald (Dawn) Keating all of Saint John, three sisters, Doris Green, Gloria Collings, and Lorraine (Bill) Taylor, all of Saint John, two grandchildren Karla (MacPhail) (Scott) Leonard, of Montana, USA, and Jennifer (MacPhail) (Jeremy) Herrington, of Quispamsis, three great grandchildren, Blake Leonard, of Montana, USA, Brianne and Brayden Herrington, of Quispamsis, two sisters in law, Donna Howland, of Quispamsis, and Ardie Mae (Bill) English, of Saint John, and several nieces and nephews. Andrew was predeceased by parents, Frank and Edna (Byers) Keating, his only child, Dale Frances (Keating) MacPhail, sister, Bernice (Keating) Conley, brothers, Donald and Robert Keating, sister in law, Jean Keating, brothers in law, Fred Howland, Clarence Green, and Jim Collings. Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, (634-1701) have been entrusted with the arrangements. As per Andrew’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held from Hillcrest Baptist Church on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 2:00PM. In keeping with COIVD-19 regulations, only 50 guests are allowed in attendance. We ask that you please register with the church to attend the service.
