Obituary of David Buckle
David was called to his heavenly home on January 13, 2018 at the SJRH, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. Born in Saint John, NB on April 25th 1935 to the late G. Raymond and Frances (Giggey) Buckle. David worked as an accountant for CHSJ for many years and later at the Telegraph Journal as Controller/Secretary Treasurer. After leaving NB Publishing, he opened Buckle Business Service where he continued to apply his accounting skills. He had a love of curling and represented NB at four senior national championships. He also spent many years dedicated to the sport of curling through coaching and instructing and was a member at Riverside Golf and Country Club as well as Thistle St. Andrews Curling Club. He bowled with his wife for many years and sailing was one of his favourite summer pastimes. David was a faithful husband, loving father and devoted grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife Cynthia (Brittain), son; Andrew Buckle (Lori) of Quispamsis, daughters; Rosalyn Nickerson (Craig) of Quispamsis, Nancy McGuire (John) of Rothesay, sisters; Joanne Deichmann of Summerville, Shawn Stubbert (John) of Fredericton, eight grandchildren; Raymond Buckle, Thomas Buckle, Maria Buckle, Jane Nickerson, Isabelle Nickerson, Lucy Nickerson, Grant McGuire and Jill McGuire; brothers-in-law Harry Brittain (Dianne), Hugh Brittain (Rosalie) and sister-in-law Glenna Brittain, as well as several nieces and nephews. David is predeceased by his parents, mother-in-law Ruth Brittain, and brothers-in-law Henrik Deichmann and Bruce Brittain. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB (634 1701). Visitation will take place on Monday, January 15th from 2:00PM-4:00PM and 7:00PM-9:00PM. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 16th at 12:00 noon in the Castle Funeral Chapel. Interment will take place in the spring. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com
