Obituary of Robert Darrell Gates

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert ‘Bob’ Darrell Gates announce his unexpected passing on Saturday, December 25, 2021. Bob was born in Saint John, NB on May 15, 1947, to the late Darrell and Audrey (Kyle) Gates.

Bob is survived by his spouse of 37 years Sandra Causey, son Robby Gates (Heather), stepdaughter Jacqueline King (Aaron), stepson Mikel Hewey, sisters; Bonnie James, Cathy Sherman (Howie), and Darrellene MacGillivray (Hugh), chosen sister Carol Ann Farris, son-in law Roy Gilmore, grandchildren; Megan Fowler (Cole), Kristen Todd (Ricky), Natasha Harriett (Mike), Briar Gates, Jaden Hewey, Sawyer King, Piper King, and Douglas Gates, great grandson William, special friends Bruce Duguay and Danny Gardiner and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents Bob is predeceased by his beloved son Jason Gates, cherished daughter Stacey Gilmore, brother Gary Gates, and fur companion Buddy.

Bob was an iron worker by trade and proud member of Local 842. He was also a member of the St. George Masonic Lodge #12, and Carleton Royal Canadian Legion Branch #2.

Bob enjoyed fishing and hunting with his friends and camping at the trailer in Harding’s Point. Bob and Sandra would be at the trailer for months at a time. Bob and Sandra shared a special life together, they were rarely apart and truly enjoyed each others company.

Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, E2M 2L3 506-634-1701. Keeping with Bob’s wishes there will be no visitation or service. A Celebration of Bob’s Life with family and friends will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to Bobby’s Hospice or the charity of the donor’s choice.
