Obituary of Douglas Janes
Janes, Douglas William, passed away unexpectedly at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Born on April 28, 1935 in Saint John. He was the son of the late Douglas and Janet Janes. Doug loved and was loved by his family. He also enjoyed many great times in and around Englewood, Fla with Alexis. He was a regular at his grandchildren’s basketball games and loved following amateur hockey. Doug grew up in the lobster industry which was started by his father (Janes’ Lobster). He also worked at Pt. Lepreau and for Day & Ross (Sameday Courier). He is survived by his loving wife, Alexis of 55 years; son, Brad and his wife Shelley, of Fredericton; daughter, Gina Wiegert and her husband Dennis, of Musquash; brothers, Jardine (Linda) of Dipper Harbour; sisters, Ivy Cosman, of Saint John, Isobel Creelman, of Bible Hill, N.S., Marjorie Janes-McCully, of Bible Hill, N.S.; brothers-in-law, Moe, Jack, Donnie; sisters-in-law, Jean, Mary, Eileen, Karen; three grandchildren, Kailey, Kenzie and Torrie; numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Campbell; brother-in-law, William MacLeod; sister-in-law, Dorothy MacLeod. Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, 634-1701. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Dipper Harbour Fire Hall on Saturday, November 3, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. Donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
