Obituary of Nadia (Lanteigne) Gallant
It is with deep sadness that the family of Nadia M. Gallant (Lanteigne) announce her passing on May 3, 2011 at the Moncton City Hospital. Nadia was born April 1, 1923 at St. Charles, N.B., the daughter of the late Maxime and Elise (Daigle) Richard. She moved to Saint John in 1941 to work at the St. Joseph's hospital and soon after met and married Romeo Lanteigne. They moved to the lower westside where they raised their family. Upon Romeo's retirement they moved to their home in Aldouane near Nadia's birthplace and enjoyed 10 years together. Romeo passed away in 1987. She became re-acquainted with Alyre Gallant, also from St. Charles who as a young man had an eye for Nadia. He came "courting" in 1989 and they have been happily married since 1991. Nadia had a very strong faith and did her best to help others and we could always depend on her prayers. She instilled in her children her strong work ethic and strength of character but above everything else she loved her family and friends. We'll miss her turn of phrase, meat pies, big smile and her ever changing shoe collection. Nadia is survived by her husband Alyre Gallant of Moncton, her children, DesNeiges (Wayne) Reicker of Nauwigewauk, Clifford (Barbara) of Saint John, Yvette (Michael) Lanigan of Quispamsis, Vernon (Karen) of Saint John. Stepchildren Thomas, Leo, Gerald, Ronald, Raymond, Alfred, Ivan Gallant and Rosetta (Dick) Orr. Sisters Maria Gallant of St. Louis de Kent, Margeurite Richard of Saint John, and sister-in-law Emerise Richard of Saint John, 10 grand-children, 3 great grand-children, step-grand-children and step-great-grand-children. She was pre-deceased by her parents, her first husband Romeo Lanteigne, son Roger, daughters Yvette, Murriel and an infant daughter. Also pre-deceased by her brothers Leo, Albert, Adelard and Benoit. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John West (634-1701) from where visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 04, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. and Thursday, May 05, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, May 06, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
