Obituary of Andrew V. Forbes
It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Andrew Forbes on July 5, 2016. Andy was born November 20, 1925, at Kilnaboy, County Clare, Ireland. Predeceased by his parents, Richard and Anne, and brother Walter, all of County Clare, Ireland, and his youngest daughter Kelly (d. 2013), he will be sadly missed by his devoted and loving wife of 61 years, Norma (Quilty) and his children Lynn Forbes Gautier of Saint John; Patricia (Robert) Snow of St. John's Newfoundland; Robert (Mona) of Mississauga, Ontario; and Mickey (Paula) of Quispamsis. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Michael (Coline), Patrick (Jessica), Catherine, Meghan, Andrew (Sarah), Alyson (Ian), John (Stephanie), Jennifer, Anna (Jason), Brendan, Maria, Christopher, Mary Kate, Clare, Stephen, Joseph, Elizabeth, Andrew and Thomas; two great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Andy retired after 35 years with the Canadian Pacific Police. He was a friend to all who knew him and will be remembered as a man who helped others through his work, his faith, and his life. He valued family as his most important asset. He was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church in Saint John. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Monsignor Brian Sheehan, J.V., and Monsignor Brian Henneberry, V.G., for their pastoral dedication, as well as to the extramural team and the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for their care and compassion. Their kindness will be remembered. Resting at Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Visitation will be Thursday, July 7 from 6-8 PM and Friday, July 8 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Monsignor Brian Sheehan at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church on Dufferin Row in Saint John on Saturday, July 9 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Remembrances to the Cathedral Restoration & Waterloo Village Revitalization Project (link found below) or to a charity of one’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
