Obituary of Grant Giddings
Grant Lyman Giddings, age 75, passed away in Saint John, NB. Grant was a life-long Saint Johner, although, called Tarpon Springs Florida home with life partner, Marge McKay for many years during Saint John winters. Grant was the son of the Reverend Dwight Lyman Giddings, and Rizpah Arvella Giddings. He resided in his family home on Earle Avenue for most of his life. Grant owned and operated an Esso Service Station on City Road in the 60s. He worked for Irving Oil, and later became the owner and operator of his own service station in the 70s. It was running his own business that he truly loved. This led to opening “Grant's Restaurants” in the Saint John, and Fredericton areas. Having never retired, Grant, in his mid 70s took on yet another business venture into the commercial cleaning business, while never ceasing to take on landscaping projects throughout the summer months. Grant is survived by Marge McKay and her family, his children; Larry Giddings (Monica) of Saint John, Gwen Giddings-Russell (Kenny) of Dartmouth, Wanda Cuthbert (Andy Simpson) of Saint John. Also survived by grandchildren Christoper, Jennifer, Quincy, Natasha, Nicole, and Ian, along with many great grandchildren. According to Grant’s wishes, a private family service will take place. Grant was proud of his father’s role in the Canadian Military. Donations in Grant's memory may be made to the Military Families Fund (MFF) at 1 877 445 6444.
