Obituary of Lewis Glenn
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, brother, and grandfather Lewis Edward Glenn. Lewis passed away peacefully on Thursday May 24, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, in Saint John, NB. Born on April 15, 1931 in East Florenceville, N.B., he was the son of the late Russell Edward Glenn and Bernice Velma Prosser. In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his sisters Margaret Young, Orpha Williams, and Gertrude Adams as well as brother Robert Glenn and infant Russell. He is survived by his sisters Ruth McKay of Vancouver and Doreen Glenn (Linda Lambert) of Digby; son James Glenn of Calgary; daughters Carolyn Glenn of Saint John and Frances Glenn (Don Hayward) of Toronto; grandchildren Sarah Hayward and Lydia Glenn Leblanc; and several nieces and nephews. Lewis hailed from Carlton county, N.B. where as a young man he worked in the woods, hunting, trapping, fishing, and hauling wood with his team of horses. When he married Evelyn Hamilton in 1956 and moved to Saint John he brought with him his deep love of nature, his resourcefulness, and hard work ethic which he used to provide for his family. Lewis worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of Saint John for almost 40 years. He was an excellent mechanic and could fix anything. Lewis loved country and western music and in years past you would find him and Evelyn with their friends Bobby and Rhoda Williams, Roseanne and George Melanson, and Roy and Shirley Braydon on a Saturday night at Jones Creek Branch 87 dancing and having fun. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West 634-1701. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 29th 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 30th, 2013 at 11:00 am at Fallsview Chapel. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill extension cemetery. Following the interment a reception will be held at the Fallsview reception center. Donations may be made to the Bruce Melanson Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Royal Canadian Legion, branch #87 Jones Creek. Online condolences can be made at www.castlefh.com. The family would like to express their gratitude to Extra Mural staff and a special thank-you to Sue Ward, RRT for her kindness and compassionate and respectful care of our Dad.
