Obituary of Leona Baird
Baird, Mrs. Leona M. The death of Mrs. Leona Marguerite (Ferguson) Baird, wife of the late James C. Baird occurred on August 5, 2011 at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Lorneville on September 7, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Bertha (Galbraith) Ferguson. Leona, a well known local historian, was a member of the U.C.W., Spruce Lake Women’s Institute, and a life member of Lorneville United Church. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by her son Robert (Judy) Baird of Digby, NS, and herdaughter Jean (the late Frank) Anderson of Saint John, and formerly of Digby, NS, several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband James, sisters: May and Jean, Florence McAllister, and Jessie Titus, as well as a brother. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. from Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. Immediately following the service, a Time of Fellowship will take place at the Fallsview Family Reception Centre. Interment in Lorneville Cemetery.
