Obituary of Janet Marie (Shelton) Russell

Surrounded by her family Janet Russell passed away peacefully on Sunday July 17, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Janet was born on October 17, 1939 in London, ON, and resided in Pocologan, NB. She was passionate, opinionated and stubborn and died as she lived on her own terms and time. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Leonard Russell (2003), her brothers Gord Shelton, Jim Shelton, Bob Shelton, also her cousin Betty-Lou Bent and Dell Shelton (sister-law.) She has left great memories with smiles and fond memories and stories with her Son Robert Leinweber (Dorinda), her grandson Kirk Leinweber (Brandi), Devin Leinweber (Melinda) and most of all her treasured great-grandson Hunter, also her cousins Don Bent (Bonnie), Steve Bent (Cathy) Terri Lynn Bent, Joanne Flagg (Jerry), her sister-in-law Molly Shelton of St. George, NB and Shirley Shelton of Dartmouth, NS, her step-son Ed Russell (Karen) and her brother-in-law Bob Russell (Shirley), Gary Russell and Dale Russell, also many nieces and nephews, and cousins and friends. Janet was an Eastern Star member for over 25 years in London, Ontario also St. George Chapters in New Brunswick. On her free time she loved spending time with her family including her cat Bert, travelling, and watching the Toronto Blue Jays. The family would like to specially thank Saint John Regional Staff and the nurses on Palliative Care Unit 4th Floor, also X-Mural and Home Care support (Becky) for taking care of our mother, Dr. Anderson, Dr. Desmond, and Dr. Burrnell for the care you gave Janet over the years. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). An Eastern Star Service will be held on Thursday July 21, 2016 at 1:45 pm and followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 pm from Castle Funeral Home Chapel. Donations in Janet’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, and the Children`s Wish Foundation.
