Obituary of Clara Mawhinney
Clara Angeline Mawhinney (Kelley) passed away peacefully on Monday, October 14th, 2013 aged 74. Born July 9, 1939, of the late Arthur Jost and Ella Mae Kelley in Advocate Harbour, NS, Clara attended Advocate School and graduated from River Hebert Rural High School. She married Glendon Blair Mawhinney on July 30, 1960, and they made their family home first on Sherbrooke Street, Saint John, then later in Maces Bay. Clara is survived by her: husband Glendon of 53 years; 3 daughters, Shawn Emino-Mawhinney (Amanda); Stacey Mawhinney; Sarah Jelinek (Joel); 2 sons, Stefan Mawhinney (Krista); Spencer Mawhinney (Kathleen); 8 grandchildren, Jost Mawhinney; Kalen, Ashton and Ethan Thomson; Jonathan and Jamie Jelinek; Ella and Anna Mawhinney; 1 great-grandaughter, Sarah-Dawn Simon-Mawhinney. She is predeceased by her late brother Hartney Kelley. An active member of Trinity Anglican Church in Maces Bay, Clara was a member of the ACW for many years and current president. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the NBTel Pioneers, the Fundy Bay 50+ Club, volunteered with the Heart and Stroke Fund and loved curling. During the early years of her marriage she worked at the Royal Bank, followed by the Bank of Nova Scotia, and then enjoyed a long career with Statistics Canada. An Anglican by faith, the family is requesting that In lieu of flowers donations be made to the Anglican Parish of Musquash. Visitation will be held on Thursday October 17, 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Castle (Fallsview) Funeral Home,309 Lancaster Avenue, E2M 2L3. Funeral service will be held on Friday, October 18 at 1pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd, interment to follow at the Maces Bay Cemetery, with refreshments to follow at the Fundy Bay 50+ Hall in Maces Bay.
