Obituary of Margaret McCollum
The family of Margaret Helen McCollum, wife of the late Robert Elliott McCollum, regret to announce her passing on August 18, 2013 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on July 11, 1927 to the late Francis Joseph O’Brien and Helen Dugay. Prior to her retirement, Margaret worked for 27 years as the canteen manager and cook for the Bowlmore Lanes snack bar. Margaret loved to cook and her baked goodies were loved by all – even as far as Florida. Margaret loved to travel. She and her late husband Elliot spent many years living in Florida as snow birds. Margaret is survived by her sons Brian (Carolyn) McCollum of Nerepis, N.B. and Lee (Elaine) McCollum of Saint John. She has 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Joseph Reid, sisters Dora Brooker and Margaret Evelyn MacNeil, her husband, and son Robert Elliott McCollum III. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Fallsview Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 12 Noon from Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Donations to Bobby’s Hospice or to the donor’s charity of choice would be greatly appreciated.
