Obituary of Dorothy MacEachern
MacEachern Dorothy Bernice (nee Howe) The death of Dorothy (Dot) B. MacEachern, life long resident of Saint John West, occurred peacefully at Carleton Kirk Lodge on Sept. 11, 2011. Born in Saint John on Sept. 05, 1919 she was the daughter of the late Ira C. Howe & Josephine (Wilkinson) Howe & wife of the late Allan J. MacEachern. Dot worked at the DVA Hospital before settling into her life as a fulltime loving wife and mother. Dot was a member of C.G.I.T. Of Canada. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Dot was recently predeceased by her loving daughter and best friend Joan McKiel who passed away this year. Dot enjoyed playing bingo, Bingo, BINGO, bowling and going on trips to see her family in Cape Breton. Enjoyed the Bob Henry Show & going with Clara to listen to Delbert. Dot's great memory of people who lived on the West Side surprised everyone. If she knew your last name, she would tell you who you were related to. Dot is survived by son Wayne (Dianna) MacEachern of Saint John West. Grandchildren Peter Finlay of Quebec ,Shelly (Rob) Dowe of Saint John, Aaron (Tom) MacEachern Flatt of Ontario and Christopher (Caroline) Gower of British Columbia. Great grandchildren Ashley, Bailey, Rieley, Kendra, Alexander, Emma, Ruth, Kathryn, Aryah, Kaiden. Dot will also be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family & friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Ira Howe, sister Beulah Chase, son in-law Wally McKiel, daughter & best friend Joan McKiel. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. from Our Lady of the Assumption. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. A reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center, following the interment. Donations to Carleton Kirk Lodge (Recreation Fund) & The Joshua Group or a charity of choice would be appreciated by the family. The family would like to thank the staff of Carleton Kirk Lodge & Dr. Ian Grant for their great care & kindness to mom.
