Obituary of Teresa Whalen
The death of Teresa Whalen occurred on Monday, December 29th, 2014, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.She was born in Piccadilly, NB., a daughter of the late Thomas and Teresa (O’Leary) Whalen.Teresa graduated from Sussex High School in 1941. She taught school on local licence for 3 years and was employed at Revenue Canada in Saint John for a number of years, then at Canada Steamship Lines in Montreal.After retirement, she returned to West Saint John.She was active in The Legion of Mary at Our Lady of The Assumption Parish West Saint John serving as president for a number of years.She is survived by her brother, Fred T. Whalen of Sussex, 2 nephews; John McGinnis of Fredericton, and Tom McGinnis of Saint John’s, Newfoundland, 7 nieces; Mary Smith, Paula McDonough, Geraldine Newman, Eleanor McGinnis, Christine Kelly, Caroline McGinnis, all of Saint John, and Carmel McGinnis of Halifax. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers; Carson J. Whalen, and Gerald R. Whalen, sisters; Mary A. Whalen, Rita A. McGinnis, and an infant brother Thomas. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home with visitation Tuesday evening December 30th, from 6:00 -8:00 pm.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady Of The Assumption, Roman Catholic Church, 360 Dufferin Row, Saint John, on Wednesday, December 31st, at 12:00 pm.Memorial donations in memory of Teresa may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.Interment in Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery, Sussex.Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John.
