Obituary of Albert Palmer
Palmer, Albert William Passed away on Friday, October 07, 2011 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on April 05, 1943 he was the son of the late Kenneth and Genevieve (Reid) Palmer. Loving husband of Barbara (Beyea) Palmer. Albert was born and raised in Milford, attending the local schools. He attended Barber School in Moncton and barbered in Saint John, Halifax and London, Ontario, where he owned his own shop. Upon returning to Saint John in 1976 he did some barbering but was offered a job at the Correctional Center on Sydney Street and later the Saint John Correctional Center on Old Black River Road where he retired after 24 years in 1999 due to his health. He was the ultimate Toronto Maple Leafs fan, and was always forever hopeful. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, Andrew (Jodi) Palmer, of Forest, Ontario, Steven (Margaret) McQueen, of Torbay, Newfoundland, George (Beth) McQueen, Ken (Barb) McQueen and Chris (Teresa) McQueen, all of Saint John; brother, Ken Palmer, of Saint John; grandchildren, Bradley, Adam, Keith, Rick, Colin, Emily Anne, Liam and Sarah McQueen and Mirade and Tayte Palmer; great grandson, Zachery McQueen; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701) visitation will take place on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations, in memory of Albert, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Lung Association, World Vision or a charity of the donor’s choice.
