Obituary of George Bishop
It is with great sadness the family of George Bishop of Grand Bay-Westfield, husband of Ellen (Elms), announces his passing at Ridgewood Veterans Wing on September 16, 2014. . George was born at Stanley, NB in 1920, the son of Willard and Lena (Hamilton) Bishop. He joined the Carleton York Regiment in 1939 and served overseas in the Second World War for six years. Following the war, George was employed as a mason until his retirement in 1985. George enjoyed visits with family & friends and working in the garden. Besides his “War Bride” Ellen, George leaves behind sons Murray (Carolyn) of Hamilton, ON; Terry (Janet) of Grand Bay-Westfield; grandchildren Terry (Kristi), Greg (Anita), and Jennifer Kinsman (Josh) all of Hamilton, ON and several great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his daughter Maureen; brothers Gerald, Glenwood, Stanley and sister Jane (Jennie) Thomas. The family would like to thank the staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing for the excellent care George received. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Salvation Army or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 1:00-2:00pm at Castle Funeral Home, a Funeral Service will follow at 2:00pm with Rev. John Martin officiating. A Reception will be held at the Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. A Private Family interment will take place at a later date. Funeral arrangements are in care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3.
