Obituary of Irene Mawhinney
After a lengthy illness, Irene Mawhinney of Maces Bay, wife of Ralph Mawhinney, went to be with her Lord on January 29, 2012 at The Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Wilson’s Beach, NB on August 14, 1931, she was the daughter of the late J. Lorin and Vivian (Cline) Savage. She is survived by her son John of Maces Bay; daughter Judith (Tom) Duke of Upper Coverdale; grandchildren Jaret (Pricilla), Krista (Jared), Olivia, Natalie, Thomas, and Emma; great grandchildren Spiro, Paras, Liberty, Xavier, and Addisson; sister June (Emery) Matthews of Wilson’s Beach; brother Graham Savage of Wilson’s Beach. She will also be remembered by her in laws Ruth (Fraser) Richardson, Harold Shanks, and Inez Mawhinney, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Irene was also predeceased by her in laws Doreen Savage, Elsie Shanks and Milford Mawhinney. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home. Donations in Irene’s name may be made to The Sjögren's Society of Canada, Maces Bay Cemetery, Maces Bay United Baptist Church, Fundy Bay Seniors, or the charity of One’s Choice.
