Obituary of Ward Leon
Ward, Leon Archibald passed away at Bobby’s Hospice on Friday, July 6, 2012. Born in Moncton, N.B. on May 14, 1922. He was the son of the late Robert and Ida (Colpitts) Ward. Leon was a dedicated teacher . He graduated from Dalhousie University and began his career in Armdale, N.S. He returned to Moncton in 1955 and was principal of Bessborough School for 23 years. He was a founding member of the Mount Royal United Church. He was also actively involved in the Teachers Assoc, and the Retired Teachers Association of Moncton N.B., and assisted in the formation of the N.B. Principal & Vice Principal Assoc. Moving to Saint John, N.B. in 1990, he was active in the Kiwanis Golden “K”, and a member of the Portland United Church. He is survived by his cherished wife of 62 years Nellie (Jordan) Ward; two sons, Robert J (Kate) of Osoyoos, B.C., Richard A (Deborah) of Sydney, NS; one daughter, Bonnie (Ivon) LeBlanc of Saint John, NB; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are entrusted to Castle Funeral Home “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John West (634-1701). A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at 10:00a.m. from Castle Funeral Home. There will be a reception at the Fallsview Family Reception Center following the service. Interment will take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB. Donations may be made to Bobby’ Hospice or the Charity of choice.
