Obituary of Linda McCavour Welsh

McCavour Welsh, Linda Anne Passed away at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease, on Friday, January 20, 2012. Born on December 09, 1945 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of Doris McCavour Hatfield (Colwell) and the late Percy V. McCavour. Linda graduated from Saint John High School, New Brunswick Teacher’s College and the University of New Brunswick. She attended Main Street Baptist Church for many years and was a member of the Saint John Art Club. She was an artist and a poet and also enjoyed gardening and playing the piano. Besides her mother, she is survived by her sisters, Brenda McCavour and Debbie (Peter) Ruddock, both of Fredericton, NB; nieces and nephews, Andrew Watters (Philip Squire), of Auckland, New Zealand, Rachel Watters, of Fredericton, NB, Kevin Ruddock, of Calgary, Alberta and Erica Ruddock, of Fredericton, NB; special aunt, Laureen Colwell, of Fredericton, NB; uncles and aunts, Norma Cairns, of Edmonton, Alberta, Robert (Phyllis) Colwell, Cecil Colwell, both of Saint John, NB, Ken (Carlotta) Colwell, of Hills Point, NB and Dorothy Stears, of Saint John, NB, as well as many cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West (634-1701). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 from Castle Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Interment will take place at Old Cedar Hill Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in memory of Linda may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the SPCA.
