Obituary of Valerie Grant
Valerie Grant (nee Mabey)passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 28, 2011. Valerie was the wife of Richard Grant, the daughter of the late Reginald (Ted) and Marjorie (Moore) Mabey. Valerie is survived by 2 sons Lorne (Lisa), Todd (Bonnie) both of Saint John; 3 Grandchildren Courtney, Jonah, Tony (Caitlin); Great Grandson Logan; brothers Robert (Heather) Mabey of Rothesay, Gerald (Margaret) Mabey of Saint John. Valerie will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Gail as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, one brother David Mabey, and her mother-in-law Frances Grant Valerie was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church, Pythian Sisters Loyalist Temple #13. Valerie loved doing crafts and gardening and playing the organ in many places including Castle Funeral Home for many years. Valerie will be missed by long time friend Marlene Perry, Gary and Pat Tait and thanks to Rae, the security guard at SJRH. Special thanks to Extra Mural, especially Cathy Kennedy. Resting at Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John West (634-1701) with visiting on Tuesday March 1, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday March 2, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Castle Funeral Home "Fallsview Chapel". Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Fallsview Family Reception Centre. In lieu of flowers donations in Valerie’s name may be made to Lupus New Brunswick, The Cancer Society, or the charity of one’s choice.
