Obituary of Ruth V. Arthurs

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Ruth Valerie Arthurs which occurred on Monday December 12, 2016 at Carleton Kirk Nursing Home. Born May 27, 1914 she was the daughter of the late Austin and Florence (Burtt) Sprague. Ruth was a lifelong member of the Eastern Star, Philip A. Jerguson Chapter #18 and a faithful member of the Carleton Kirk United Church. She was an avid curler and was a member of the Carleton Ladies Curling Club. Ruth will be forever remembered and loved by son Raymond “Bud” Arthurs and daughter Valerie “Val” (Leander Boudreau) Ricketts all of Saint John, NB; grandchildren Mark (Debbie) Ricketts, Tim (Terry) Ricketts, Susan (John) Ames, Cassandra (Wayne) Russell, Darlene (Mark) McNeil; 9 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Besides her parents Ruth was predeceased by husband Raymond J. Arthurs and brothers Gordon and Elvert Sprague. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). Following cremation, visitation will be held on Friday December 16, 2016 from 2:00-6:00pm. Interment will take place at Cedar Hill Extension at a later date. Donations in Ruth’s memory can be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
