Obituary of Muriel Lane

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Muriel Agnes (Springer) Lane of Oak Point on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 91 years of age. Born in Chatham, NB, on January 6, 1923 she was a daughter of the late James and Margaret (Savage) Springer. Muriel is survived by 1 daughter, RaeMarie Paisley (Ron) of Brown’s Flat and 2 sons, Randy (Cindy) Lane and Mack Lane, both of Oak Point, grandsons Arthur Lane, Randon Lane, Nigel Lane, Michael (Laura) Paisley, Colin (Evelynne) Paisley, Adam (Samantha) Paisley, Brian Lane and David Lane, granddaughters Krista (Dexter) Denton, Kama (Don) Bastarache, Heather (Rick) McKiel, Paula (Colleen) Woods and Kendall (Darren) Fowler.She also left behind 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren with more on the way. Besides her parents and 6 siblings, Muriel was predeceased by her husband Donald W. Lane, one daughter Donna (Paul) Woods; 2 sons, Arthur (Lorrie) Lane and William (Billy) (Loretta) Lane; one grandson Glen (Kim) Lane. After graduation, Muriel went to work as a secretary in The Naval Offices. She ended caring for others at Centracare and lastly at Gagetown Nursing Home as an LPN. In later years, she engaged in her own home phone ministry. She would try to call someone every day to cheer or encourage them. Muriel was all about giving. It gave her great pleasure to knit and crochet beautiful things for family and friends. At 90, her last creations were prayer shawls. Her smile, her sense of humour and her amazing faith in God are what made Muriel who she was. A beautiful lady. Muriel will be sadly missed by all, never forgotten and will live on in the lives she touched. She was the hub of the family and worked to keep our lives intertwined. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11am from the Castle “Fallsview” Chapel, with Eileen Irish officiating. Donations made to St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. She felt a special connection with him and always included him in her prayers.
