Obituary of Edna Mawhinney
Mrs. Edna Pearl Mawhinney of Maces Bay passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 11, 2014. Born in Roachville, King’s Co. on September 30, 1915, a daughter of the late Richard and Jane (McFarlane) Patterson. Edna was very active in the Seaside Baptist Church; she was the Organist for many years and was very active in the Women’s Missionary Society. She was a member of the Fundy Bay Seniors Club. Always having a very open and loving home, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Edna is survived by her son H. Beverly (Eileen) Mawhinney of Maces Bay; a special niece Vivien Carson of Saint John; four grandchildren, Margaret Mawhinney, Michael Mawhinney, Evan (Carrie) Mawhinney and Halley Mawhinney all of Maces Bay; two great-grandchildren Colby and Rachael Mawhinney; as well survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband Harold Mawhinney, three brothers and two sisters. Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 12pm-2pm. A Funeral Service will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 2pm, from the Castle “Fallsview” Chapel. A reception will follow the service at the Castle “Fallsview” Reception Center. Interment will be held in Maces Bay in the spring. Donations made to the Seaside Baptist Church, Maces Bay Cemetery or to the charity of the donor’s choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
