My memories of Don go back a long way. He was best friends with my cousin Helmer. Don gave me my first office job at Nalaco in 1947. It’s a miracle he never fired me. Don was an usher at my wedding in 1961. Don and Dorcas hosted my mother and sister for lovely dinners for many years. Don and Dorcas always had people under their wings. I am so grateful
To have known fthem. There was joy in heaven when he arrived.

Don was my first Sunday School teacher. I have many good memories of Luther League activities and Sunday School picnics with Don, Dorcas and Christine. I will not forget them. Such a kind man.

Our family has such lovely memories of time spent with Uncle Don. He was a great story teller and loved sharing his jokes. You always knew when you received an email from Uncle Don that it would be an “interesting” read! He left his mark on many friends, neighbours and family.

Our condolences on your loss. My husband, Blake and I knew Don and Dorcas through the Lutheran Church. Don was the perfect gentleman, always polite and charming. He was always impeccably dressed. A smart, kind and caring man.

I’m so sorry to hear of Don’s passing. Mr. & Mrs. Powell will always hold a special place in my heart. I have many fond memories growing up, of cross stitching lessons and eating scotch mints with Mrs. Powell, while Mr. Powell played solitaire on his computer. I even trusted only Mr. Powell not once but twice to cut stuck rings off my fingers as a little girl. I always enjoyed Mr. Powell’s homemade birthday cards printed off the computer and the many funny jokes he sent through email.
I’m so thankful for the chance to catch up with him this past summer when he was taken out for a drive. I’m thankful for so many cherished memories. Thinking of all his family and friends.

Christine so sorry for the loss of your Father. Don and his late Wife Dorcas were wonderful neighbors. Don had a great sense of humor. When your Dad moved to Rocmura, I missed him and our chats. When your Mom was still living here, before she went to Rocmura, it was so lovely to see Don and Dorcas every Sunday going to church. He told me it was so nice to have you visiting as you would cook and he had a freezer full of food so he would not have to cook. He was always excited when you were coming for a visit. He would always let me know. Don will be greatly missed. Again, so sorry for you and your Family's loss.

Dear Christine & Don, Jean, Mary, Susan and Debbie and all the family,
My heartfelt sympathy on your loss, which I also feel deeply.
Both Don and Dorcas occupied a special place in my life. It began when I arrived in Canada in Oct. 1960 when I joined the Luth. Congregation and has continued over these many years. I am deeply grateful for all their kindness, understanding and gentle support.
I will sorely miss Don’s positive influence, kind humour and conversation while sharing cups of coffee.
May God’s blessings and love be with you at this difficult time.
With love,
Ilse
