Obituary of Doreen Ann Williams
It is with great sadness that the family of Doreen Ann (nee Driscoll) Williams, loving wife of Leonard Williams, announce her passing on December 15, 2022, at Rocmaura Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, N.B. On April 2, 1935, she was the daughter of Howard Driscoll and Amelia (nee Landry) Driscoll.
Doreen was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Family meant everything to her, and she was her happiest when she was around family. She was lucky enough to spend her life living beside her brother Russell, sister Rite, her twin sister Doris, and their families. Growing up nothing was as special as being around mom, Aunt Rita, Doris, and Delores; listening to their laughter and watching how much fun they were having. Our cousins and ourselves were very blessed to have all this family around us.
Doreen was especially close to her twin sister. Her and Doris were married the same day in a double ring ceremony at St. Rose Church. She and her twin sister also worked together at Red Rose Tea before starting their families.
Doreen was active in the Lorneville Community Centre. She loved attending and working the Thursday night open mics, senior card parties, and many other community events. She loved Country music and was a great dancer. Mom and dad could heat up the dance floor whether at the Branch 69 Legion or the Lorneville Community Center.
Doreen was also a fabulous cook, and her baking was enjoyed by everyone. Her children's fondest memories were coming home from school to fresh baking every day. Mom was kind, thoughtful and fun; she will be greatly missed by all those who loved her.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 67 years, Leonard Williams; her sons Gary Williams and Joe Williams of Lorneville; daughters Pam Williams of Saint John and Theresa (Brian) Flewwelling of Quispamsis; granddaughters: Paula (Mario) Landry, Sheri (Ben) Curry, and Kaitlyn (Jay) Lavigne; great grandchildren: Erica, Julia, and Anna Curry, Hudson and Madison Lavigne, and Joel and Isabelle Landry; brother-in-law Calvin Williams; sister-in-law Marlys Williams; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; sister Rita (Malcolm) Maguire; brother Russell (Deloris) Driscoll; and twin sister Doris (Carroll) Seeley; nephew Malcom Driscoll; niece Susan Maguire; brothers-in-law Gordon Williams (Barbara) and Arthur Williams; and sister-in-law Sandra Williams.
The William’s family would like to thank the staff at the Rocmaura Nursing Home for their outstanding care and compassion in looking after Doreen.
