Obituary of Marguerite Jean Keating

It is with broken hearts the family announce the peaceful passing of Marguerite Jean (Howland) Keating on Monday December 26, 2022, at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Lodge. Born in Fredericton, N.B. on February 3, 1932, Marguerite was a daughter of the late Fred Bruce and Jeannie (Baird) Howland, and widow of the late Andrew William Keating.

Marguerite lived her whole life in South Bay where she enjoyed maintaining her beautiful rock gardens at her home. She spent winters in Florida at the Yankee Traveller with her husband Andrew, and they spent their summers at the cottage enjoying the Belleisle Bay with beloved family and friends.

Marguerite retired after working many years for Sears. She was an active member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church. She bowled every Wednesday in Lancaster and enjoyed her ladies craft group the South Bay crafters.

Marguerite was loved and enjoyed by many, she was often referred to as the favourite, you would always be greeted by a warm embrace.

Marguerite is survived by her two grand daughters ; Jennifer (Jeremy) Herrington, of Quispamsis, and Karla (Scott) Leonard, of Casper, Wyoming, three great grandchildren; Blake Leonard, of Wyoming, Brianne and Brayden Herrington, of Quispamsis, one sister; Ardie Mae English (Bill), of South Bay, several sisters and brothers -in-laws and many nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Marguerite was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Jeannie Howland, her husband, Andrew Keating , her brother; Fred Howland, and her only child; Dale Frances MacPhail.

The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701).  As per Marguerite’s wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Thursday January 12, 2023, at Castle Funeral Home from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm. A  memorial service will be held on Friday January 13, 2023 in Castle"Fallsview" Chapel at 1:30pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Ext. cemetery. Donations to the N.B.
