Obituary of Maurice Joseph Gallant

With family by his side Maurice Joseph Gallant passed away peacefully on December 30, 2022, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on May 21, 1954, in Saint John, NB, to his parents Adolphe and Lucille (nee Blanchard) Gallant.

Maurice was a fun and loving person. Always ready to make the people around him laugh, or joke around with a quick-witted tease, everyone always enjoyed his company. An avid pool player, Maurice enjoyed spending his down time playing a game of pool with his friends.

Maurice worked at NBTel 32 years, and in various positions, but his role as a Technical Support Agent was his favourite. He enjoyed helping others and was always willing to help his family and close friends with their technical issues.

Maurice will be lovingly remembered by his partner Betty Hayward; stepdaughter Laurie Hayward; sisters: Patricia (Dennis) Maybee, Marlene (Earl) Saunders, Diane (Jeff) Scott, and Yvette Gallant (Blake Smith); brothers Wayne Gallant (Nora Walsh) and Mike (Lisa) Gallant; nieces: Christina, Linda, Katelyn, Sonja, Jessica, and Karissa; nephews Robert and Nathaniel; great nephews Anton and Alexander; as well as many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins.

Maurice was predeceased by his parents, as well as many Aunts, Uncles and cousins.

The family would like to send a special thank-you to the Palliative Care Unit, especially Sylvie and her team, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Your care and compassion for Maurice will never be forgotten.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (634 1701). Visitation for Maurice will be held on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM and then Thursday, January 5, 2023, from 12:00 – 1:00 PM. A Funerial Liturgy will follow beginning at 1:00 PM in the Castle Funeral Home Chapel. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Lung Association, or the charity of your choice.
