I had the pleasure of working with Allan at iMagicTV and Anyware Group. He was a brilliant man with an innovative mind and a very kind heart. Many technical conversations would lead to other topics that had me always learning something new. He explained how we could create 'past tv' before anyone knew what a PVR was and also the person who told me that children don't understand sarcasm until the age of 8. Impressive insights both big and small were always guaranteed when you sat with Al for a chat.
My deepest sympathies to his family
Amie

It is a sad day indeed. I worked with Allan at Aliant and IMagiv TV in the Planning dept.. many hours spent in meeting rooms always ending with Allan at the white board with a marker in hand explaining "just how this going to work". He was a great man indeed. My condolences to his family.

Today I was saddened to hear of Al's passing. His obituary correctly lists his many attributes, and I always saw him as a brilliant innovator who welcomed me into the NBTel Planning Dept where we worked together, then as we worked on TV development for many years after that. Quicker than all his colleagues, Al was also caring, and always wanting us to do the technically best thing.
I first met Al when he was my lab instructor at UNB, however I recall seeing him more recently after we'd both retired and thinking he had not changed much at all.
Al's passing is indeed a great loss - both to his field of engineering and also to his loved family.
