Obituary of Susan Anne Smith
Peacefully, and surrounded by her loving family, Susan Anne Smith (nee Freeze) passed away on July 26, 2023. Born in Saint John, NB, on April 16, 1960, she was a daughter to the late Vincent and Theresa (nee Shannon) Freeze.
Susan is survived by her loving husband Glenn Smith; sons Keith (Ana) and Scott (Emily Kelly) Smith; daughter Jennifer Smith (Sean McGuire); adopted daughter Simone Duke; granddaughters: Jesselynn, Isabelle, and Jade; sisters Carol Wilson and Jan Small; brothers: James (Ann), David (Rita), Derrick (Jane), Barry (Gail), Grant, and Jeff (Joanne) Freeze; brother-in-law Brian (Carol); sisters-in-law Marilyn (Ed) and Michelle Smith; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Susan was predeceased by her infant brother Paul Freeze, and brothers-in-law Mel Small and Allan Wilson.
In 1982 Susan met Glenn working at Canadian Tire on the West Side; that’s when their love story began. On August 1, 1987, Susan and Glenn wed and began their life together. Shortly after they started a family having 3 children: Keith, Jenn, and Scott. Susan spent the following years as a stay-at-home mom making sure her children had the best childhood. In 2014 Susan took on a new role as a grandmother to Jesselynn Anne, then in 2015 to Jade Pearl Katherine, and again in 2022 to Isabelle Margaret.
Susan enjoyed her home life watching her shows, spending time with her family, and of course enjoying her cigarettes.
The family would like to thank Marjorie, Shelly, and Vanessa with ExtraMural; Dr. Love and Dr. Keripe; Carol and Tammy with Darlene’s Homecare; and Karen at BayShore for the excellent care provided over the last few months. A special thank you to Susan’s special friend Gail, her daughter Jenn, son Scott and his girlfriend Emily, as well as Emily’s sister Michaela, for your endless hours of care and compassion.
