Obituary of David Palmer

It is with great sadness the family of Jonathan “David” Palmer announce his unexpected passing on Friday September 29, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born on January 6, 1956, in Truro, Nova Scotia, David is a son of the late Ingham and Ruth (MacKenzie) Palmer.

David is survived by two brothers, Robert (Joanne) Palmer, of Quispamsis and Jamie (Roxie) Palmer, of Saint John, one sister, Ruthie (Bud) Connor, of Saint John, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by Uncle Lloyd and Marion Palmer of PEI.

David is predeceased by his parents, Ingham, and Ruth Palmer, one sister, Karen Elizabeth Palmer.

David graduated from Saint John Vocational School in 1974. To his friends, he was affectionately known as “Piggy”. He played hockey and baseball in various Lancaster leagues in his younger years. He loved watching any kind of sporting events including football, curling and harness racing. He was a die-hard fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Blue Jays and the New England Patriots. He worked for years at Maritime Paper and retired from Mirage Foods in 2020.

A special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff for their compassion, care and friendship provided to him during his 6 months stay, in particular those working 3CN and 4CS.

The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, (634 1701). As per David’s wishes cremation has taken place.If you wish, donations to the charity of the donor’s choice can be made in David’s memory. Online condolences can be made at www. Castlefh.ca.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at AJ's Lounge in Lancaster Plaza. All former workmates and friends of David are welcome to join us and share any stories and memories you have of "Piggy" as we celebrate and remember the life of our beloved Brother.
