Obituary of Krista Dale Murphy

With broken hearts the family of Krista Dale Murphy (nee Ellis) announce her passing on Sunday, December 10, 2023, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB, on September 19, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Sandra (nee Drillen) Ellis.

Krista was raised on Visart Street in the North End and graduated from Millidgeville North High School in 1978. After high school, she attended The Modern Business College and started her career with NB Tel. After having her third child she made the decision to be a stay-at-home mom. Three years later she gave birth to her light of her life Devy, in which she has dedicated the last 26 years to providing the up most exceptional care for him.

Krista was a member of The Community Living Board for many years as well as other organizations advocating for children and adults with special needs.

Krista and Paul were married for over 42 years. They enjoyed spending their Sundays with the Ellis clan on Lyden Drive as well as many weekends at the summer house in Browns Flats. Every Sunday evening Krista and Paul had a date night bowling in a fun league uptown.

Krista was very proud of her children, loved her grandchildren and enjoyed her visits with her 4-legged grand babies.

Krista will be dearly missed by her loving husband Paul Murphy; children: Jennifer (Tim), Ashley (Rick), Brittany (Josh), and Devin; grandchildren: Brayden (Tristin), Lauren (Lukas), and Maelee; honourary granddaughter Payton; brothers: Randy (Margie), Barry (Beverly), and Mark (Debbie); brothers-in-law: Vaughn (Wendy), Grant (Mary Jane), Blake (Lorrie), Evan (Cherie), and Owen; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Besides her parents, Krista was predeceased by her daughter Chelsea, grandson Lucas, mother and father-in-law Arthur and Ruth Murphy, and nephew Ryan.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chubb, Dr. Hull, and the staff of 4CN for their care during Krista’s brief time there, as well as her long-time family doctor Dr. Castonguay.

Visitation for Krista will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM. A private family service will take place at a later date.
