Obituary of Louise Winslow
It is with great sadness the family of Verna Louise Winslow wish to announce her passing on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the Carleton Kirk Nursing Lodge. Born in Saint John, N.B., in 1929 Louise was the daughter of the late Augustus and Verna (Howard) Muller, and widow of the late Stanley Winslow.
Louise was graduate of SJHS, then went on to pursue a Nursing Career, she was a graduate of Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. Louise was a General Staff Nurse, Head Nurse of Paediatrics, worked in Radio Therapy, the Home Dialysis Training Center, Assistant Supervisor of Central Service Department, she also received a Diploma in Administration Hospital Nursing University of Saskatchewan, and Certification Extended Paediatrics from Montreal Children’s Hospital. Louise was also a long-standing member of Lancaster Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and played the piano for Sunday School and was a choir member. Louise was a Dominion Life member of United Baptist Women, a Dominion Life Member of the Baptist Women’s Missionary Society of Canada, a Life Member of United Baptist Women’s Missionary Union of Atlantic Provinces, the Rolanda Bass Women’s Society, Associate Life member NB Chapter #51 Telephone Pioneers of America, and a volunteer at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing, A life Member of the Nursing Union, and the Saint John General Hospital Alumnae.
Louise is survived by her cousins; Deborah (Paul) King, Leslie (Mae) Howard, Doris Howard, Carol ( Millidge) Dorey, and Evelyn Miller.
Louise was predeceased by her parents; Augustus and Verna Muller, and her beloved husband; Stanley Winslow (2010), cousins; Sterling Howard, and Carol Harris.
The arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 12:00pm to 2:00pm. A Funeral Service will take place at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel at 2:00pm. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill ext. Cemetery at a later date. A reception will be held at Castle Funeral Home following the service. Donations to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
