Obituary of Bernice Elizabeth Paterson
After a brief illness, Bernice Elizabeth Paterson passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born in Greenwich Hill, NB on March 20, 1935, she was a daughter of the late James and Edna (nee Wallace) Rutter.
Bernice was a lifelong resident of Browns Flat, NB and lived there until her passing. Bernice loved and cared for her family deeply. She was thrilled when she became a grandmother and delighted when she became a great-grandmother; her great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. Bernice enjoyed passing the time by quilting, knitting, and working on puzzles. She would often get together with her friends and go square dancing.
Bernice is survived by her sons Russell (Cindy) and Wallace (Brenda); grandchildren: James (Yvonne), Angela (Joe), and Melissa (Shaun); great-grandchildren Brayden and Corbyn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents she is predeceased by her husband William “Bill” Russell Paterson, and her infant sister Priscilla.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and doctors of 4CN and palliative care for their exceptional care.
