Obituary of Betty Boyer

With gratitude for a life filled with laughter and love, we announce the passing of Helen Elisabeth (Betty) Boyer.

Born in Bathurst on August 2, 1932, to Carl and Inez (Jagoe) Hills, Betty graduated from Bathurst High in 1949, and after becoming an RNA, cared for many elderly patients at the Annex on Bayside Drive. Betty was a faithful member of Portland United Church and served as Worthy Grand Matron with the Eastern Star. She founded the Adult Daycare Centre at Centenary Queen Square United Church and worked as their activities director for many years. She loved and respected people of every colour, creed, and ability, and her infectious laughter was one of a kind.

A life-long crafter, Betty's creativity knew no bounds, and she put her skillful hands to work at quilting, mural and rock painting, gardening, baking, knitting and jam making. She hand-made different Christmas ornaments for everyone in the family year after year. Betty loved cats, birds and flowers, and music - a love she passed on to all her children.

Betty is survived by her husband of 71 years Clifford Boyer, her brother Tom Hills (Connie) of Ottawa, Sister in law Sybil Hills of Bathurst, and six children David (Patti), Linda (William), Lee (Joanne), Douglas (Melana), Michael (Mary Ann), Todd, Missy the cat, and her many talented grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Castle “Fallsview” Funeral Home (506) 634-1701, 309 Lancaster Ave., Saint John NB. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, starting at 11:00AM and a Memorial Service in the Castle “Fallsview” Chapel beginning at 1:00 PM. A reception will follow. A private Interment will take place at Maces Bay Cemetery for family only. For those who wish, online condolences can be made by visiting www.castlefh.ca.
