Obituary of Joan Beverley Beatteay
Joan Beverley Beatteay passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. Joan was born in Saint John, NB on October 27, 1938 to the late William and Preston (Smith) Beatteay.
Joan will be dearly missed by her sister-in-law Diann Beatteay, God Child and niece; Jennifer Fair and her husband Sterling, that Joan considered as one of her nephews, God child and nephew; Jefferey Beatteay, special cousin Judy Morrison and her friends and neighbors from Sand Cove Road, where she lived for the last 30 years.
In addition to her parents Joan was predeceased by her brother Douglas Beatteay.
Joan graduated from UNB with her teaching degree and began her lifelong career as an elementary school teacher. She absolutely adored her students, as they did her, leaving lasting impressions. She spent her teaching career at Seawood, Havelock and Barnhill School.
Joan enjoyed travelling with friends, particularly to Europe, Hawaii and Spain. She loved going shopping, especially with Jennifer and was a big supporter of the Shopping Channel. Joan loved her shoes, purses, jewellery and sports cars; she was never without them. She also enjoyed going out to eat at nice restaurants.
Joan had many fond memories at New River Beach at her parents’ home. Many wonderful weekends were spent there with her brother and his family. In later years they would make any excuse to have a family party.
Arrangements are under the care of Castle Fallsview Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John, NB, E2M 2L3, 506-634-1701. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at 1:00 PM in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Joan’s memory can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
