Obituary of Maude Elsie Nice
It is with great sadness the family of Maude Elsie Nice wish to announce her passing on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Parkland Shannex (Cohen Hall). Born in Saint John, N.B. in 1930, Maude was a daughter of the late Frederick E. and Ellen Dunham (Logan) Braid, and beloved wife of the late Norman Albert Nice.
Maude was a long-time member of the Carleton Kirk United Church, was very active in the Carleton Kirk Choir, and the Women’s UCW. Maude worked at T.S. Simms Brush Factory for 22 years before retiring in 2007. Maude was an Immaculate Housekeeper and loved to cook, she was a homebody who loved her house and her family.
Maude is survived by her son; Wayne (Janet) Nice, of Fredericton, N.B., two grandchildren; Jason (Michelle) Nice, of Ottawa, Adam (Marion-Ann) Nice, of Fredericton, one great grandson; Andre Nice, of Ottawa, two brothers; Ralph (Flora) Braid, of Rothesay, and Ronald Braid, of Lower Sackville, N.S., many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Maude was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Ellen Nice, her husband; Norman A. Nice, two brothers; Willard Braid, and Murray Braid, three sisters; Jessie at infancy, Ethel Garvin, and Gertrude Braid.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave. Saint John, N.B. (506 634 1701). A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Castle Funeral Home. A funeral service will take place at Castle “Fallsview” Chapel on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 1:00pm. A reception will be held at Castle Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery. Donations to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the N.B. Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
