Obituary of Joyce Anne Thomson
It is with appreciation for a long and well-lived life that the family of Joyce Anne Thomson (Logan) announce her passing on December 27, 2024.Born in Lachine, Quebec to the late George Logan and Annie Campbell Donald on January 30,1934, Joyce is survived by her sons Kevin Thomson (Sarah) and Scott Thomson (Colleen), and granddaughter Megan Thomson. Predeceased by her loving husband Ken and by her son Erich Christ.
Joyce began her secretarial career with Trans Canada Airlines, where her work allowed her to travel extensively and explore the world. After settling in Saint John, Joyce became an active member of the Carleton Kirk United Church, where her warmth and dedication touched many lives. She also made a meaningful impact through her work at the orphanage on Manawagonish Road and her role at CP Transport. Married for 68 years, Joyce’s support was instrumental to Ken during his years of study and ministry, standing by him with love and encouragement (and many hours of typing).
Above all, Joyce was a devoted and loving mother to Kevin, Scott, and Erich, who will always cherish her kindness, wisdom, and strength. Known for her incredible cooking and baking, Joyce’s meals brought people together and created lasting memories around her table. Joyce’s legacy of love, service, and devotion will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her. Her lasting advice to her sons was “Be Happy” and she would want that for all of us.
According to Joyce’s wishes, a simple gravesite service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Sand Cove Road, on Tuesday, December 31 st at 10:00AM. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the wonderful staff at Kennebec Manor for their exceptional care and compassion for Joyce. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Carleton Kirk United Church.
