Obituary of Andy Wylie

It is with great sadness that the family of Andrew (Andy) Campbell Wylie, announce his passing on Monday October 5, 2015 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born Nov 3, 1939 in Paisley, Scotland he was the son of the late Andrew and Jemima (McNaughton) Wylie. Andy is survived by his loving wife Frances of 53 years; son Andrew (Kimberly) of Scarborough, ON; daughter Holly Betts of Saint John, NB; three grandchildren Justin and Jessica Wylie, Rebecca Betts whom he all loved dearly and they loved him. One sister Lorraine Molloy (MacDonald) of Scotland; sister-in-laws Trudy Yeomans, Sandra Connor, Dina (Wayne) Wilson, brother-in-law Frank (Helen) Burnett, several nieces and nephews Shawn (Tracy) Connor, Heather (Kirk) Connor, Edith Tippett, Tiffany Wilson, Christopher Wilson, Katherine (Ed) Bunnet, Kirstie (Peter) Adam; grand nieces and nephews Jaylin and Ryder Connor, Sarah and Katelyn Adam. Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers-in-law Ron Yeomans, Thomas Connor and George Burnett.Andy started his career with Babcock & Wilcox in Renfrew, Scotland then immigrated to Canada in 1961 and was employed with the Saint John Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Ltd until his retirement in 1995. During his time with the shipyard, Andy was able to travel to and work in the Collingwood Shipyard in Collingwood, ON and the shipyard in New Orleans, Louisanna, USA. After retirement he took up his love of woodworking. He was also very proud of his gardens, and bird watching became a wonderful hobby of his.Being a long time faithful member of St. George and St. Judes Anglican Churches, he was a vestry member, warden, Sunday School Superintendent and teacher, Cub/Scout leader, past president of the St. Joseph’s Guild and member of Georges Café Care Team. Andy was also a member of the Masonic Order Lodge #1 Albion, Chapter Dad of Demolay Ulster, past Zerubbabel Union #4 Royal Arch, past Noble of the Mystic Shrine as well as playing the bass drum for the masonic pipe band while in the Shriners. Arrangements are under the care of Castle Funeral Home, 309 Lancaster Ave, Saint John (634-1701). The family will receive friends on Wednesday October 7, 2015 from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and Thursday October 8, 2015 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. & 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a Masonic Order Service being held at 6:00 p.m. A Memorial Service celebrating Andy’s life will be held at Castle Funeral Home Chapel on Friday October 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. It is Andy’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations in Andy’s memory can be made to Shriners Hospital for Sick Kids or Bobby’s Hospice.
