My sincere condolences. I was away and just learned about Don. I knew him from Dragonboats and Outdoor Enthusiasts. Every year we would catch up where we left off. I would arrange ice for his knee until he got it fixed and was there when he got it fixed. He was a such a nice kind man and he will be missed. Thoughts and prayers are with the family.

To Elisabeth and Family, Don was a very special part of the Breasts Ahoy Dragon Boat Team from the very beginning. We will remember the songs he sang to us on our way back to the dock after a hour long practice. We always had smiles on our faces even if we were exhausted listening to him sing. He will always be with us in spirit as we paddle and we will remember his smile and encouragement he had for us. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I've know Don through the Saint John Dragon Boat Festival. He was such a big part of the Festival right from the start and was always there to lend a hand with coaching our teams and being one of our steersmen. Don still came out last year even when I know he was not feeling all that well. I know he'll be missed very much by all of our volunteers at the Festival especially by his fellow steersmen and myself.

Don often refered to the guys as a gentleman and a scholar, the truth be told there was not a finer gentleman and scholar than Don Porter. Don had a way of expounding on even the simplest matters with the eloquence that only he had. Having just spoken to him a week or so before his passing he was chipper and optimistic. Don will be dearly missed at the gun club and monthly meetings where his counsel on Roberts rules of order was often requested by our president. Don would often call the house and if I wasnt home he would end up talking with Linda who had said "it was like he knew me" but mistaking her for someone else but the truth was he did know and would give of his time because he genuinely cared. We would often speak of things eternal and no doubt his battle of late would only draw him nearer to his maker. Praying for Elisabeth and family for their loss as only they can know.Blake & Linda Tibbetts
